1987 Dodge Ram 250
This van had a brand new motor installed in 2003, along with many other new items
replaced at the same time. I have driven it 7,500 miles since the motor was put in,
and have babied it just driving around the city. It is running fantastic!
I have kept the maintenance up on it; tune-ups, oil-changes, etc.
I've done quite a bit of work to this 20 yr old van. You just have too!
Accessible Features
It has a 1987 Ricon Chain Electric Lift. I had it overhauled, has new switches
and completely rewired. It works great and is very strong! My power chair with
me in it weighs over 600 lbs, and it picks me up without straining.
The one-piece platform measures 28" wide, 37" long.
Frame clearance from floor plate to top of door opening is 47".
It is also equipped with standard hand controls that work great. The front
driver seat is a standard chair for a Dodge Ram 250 Van. It did have a
six-way power seat in it, but it didn't work and was unsafe to sit in.
The side doors automatically open & close. The lift works by toggle
switch controls from inside and outside. There is an access panel on the
right rear panel, that key-locks for safety.
There is not a tie-down system for wheelchairs installed in the interior.
Killer Sound System
I installed a Blaupunkt BPV-755 CD Radio player in it about 3 years ago.
I just put in new 6" door speakers and the rear 6"x 9"s are new Jensen Triaxials.
There are twin 8" 200 watt SAS Bazooka Bass Tubes mounted behind
the bench seat, and under the seat are twin 750 watt amps. Comes with remote.
This system will blow you away! I just had the entire system dialed-in!
I'm gonna miss this the MOST!
Interior & Overhead Console
The interior is in fair condition. The carpet is faded in areas but not torn at all.
The front seats are worn from years of use. The bench seat is in good shape
and manually folds out to a bed. There is a rear AC/Heat unit under it.
The front heater works great, the A/C runs good; but leaks out Freon
from somewhere in system. So I just open all windows!
The front overhead console has a very old Mobile Phone & CB in it.
I have never messed with them, and they don't power on.
There are some lights in rear and map lights up front.
Exterior
The paint is original as you can see, roof is sun-faded, but the paint doesn't
make it run! The moon windows need caulking annually b'cuz the sun dries out
the sealant. Heavy-duty trailer hitch. No big dents or scratches, it was in a minor
rear-end collision in 2007. I replaced front grill & bumper, no other damages.
Needs
Tires all around. These have good tread, but sidewalls are dry-rotted.
I would guess they are at least 6-7 years old.
A/C System leak traced and sealed up. Uses R-2 Freon.
To be driven at least once/week to keep charged.
It loves warm weather. In cold; it is slow to warm up & idle,
but once it's ready, it will run great!
